A high-risk pregnancy is one where the mother, baby or both face a higher than normal chance of complications before, during or after delivery. Approximately 6–8% of all pregnancies in India are classified as high-risk. With the right specialist care, the vast majority of high-risk pregnancies result in healthy babies and healthy mothers.
At MiracleHealth Hospital, Uttarahalli, our expert gynaecologist manages high-risk pregnancies with closer monitoring, specialist coordination and timely intervention. We work closely with our diabetologist for gestational diabetes, cardiologist for cardiac issues and paediatrician for newborn care — all under one roof.

High BP after 20 weeks of pregnancy — protein in urine, headache, visual disturbance. Blood pressure medication, magnesium sulfate for seizure prevention. Early delivery if severe.

Placenta covering the cervix — causes painless vaginal bleeding. Serial ultrasound, activity restriction, planned C-section at 36–37 weeks.
Placenta grown into uterine wall — surgical emergency at delivery. Requires specialist surgical team and blood bank preparation.
Contractions before 37 weeks — tocolytics to delay delivery, corticosteroids to mature fetal lungs, referral to NICU if delivery inevitable before 34 weeks.
Intrauterine growth restriction — baby not growing adequately. Serial Doppler ultrasound, timing of delivery based on fetal wellbeing.
Full medical history, pre-pregnancy conditions, BMI, BP measurement. Blood tests — blood group, CBC, thyroid, blood sugar, HIV, hepatitis B, rubella immunity.
High-risk pregnancies seen more frequently — fortnightly or weekly depending on condition. BP, urine protein, fundal height, fetal movement checked at every visit.
